A serious hamstring issue prevented Davis from playing for the Titans in 2009 regular season, so he remained jobless since suffering the injury during the preseason. He claimed that he was ready for a new season when announcing his return to NFL earlier this offseason, and the Giants also seemed glad to add a veteran like Davis. However, immediately after Davis failed the physical, the team announced to waive him. It will take another long time for the Giants to find another replacement for Hixson, who is anyway unlikely to return for 2010 season because of his torn ACL.
Even if the Giants are not going to get their favorite replacement, they will still have cornerback Aaron Ross to play at the position temporarily, but for Davis, it is harder for him to find a new job now. He used to say that he wanted to put on Saints jersey to defend championship for the Super Bowl XLIV winner, but failing a physic with Saints’ NFC opponent team will surely also prevent him from getting a job from the Saints.
